Q: When I told my best friend that my fiancé and I had just set our wedding date, she recommended that I send out save the date notices immediately. Do I really need to do so?
A: Save the date notices - whether in the form of cards or fun magnets - are very useful. Their purpose is actually two-fold: they allow you to announce your exciting news AND allow guests to mark their calendars with your wedding date. This will afford them time to make travel plans, arrange for vacation time if necessary and will prevent them from scheduling other activities on your wedding date. Be sure your save the date cards mention that an invitation will follow so they'll look for it in the mail in the weeks before your wedding. (See our selection of save-the-dates.)
